On August 13, Zachary and I will join the 2012 Catalyst Foundation's Aid Expedition. This will be our 3rd Aid Expedition. We will be with a group of 36 volunteers, including 13 children. We will work in Kien Giang (the southernmost province in Vietnam near the Cambodian border). The group will be building a cafeteria, providing medical assistance to over 2000 people and volunteering at the Vinh Quang school.

August 13
This morning we took the ferry from Phu Quoc Island to Rach Gia. We immediately went to the work site where we found out that most of the people assigned to the medical team (including me) have been reassigned to the building team. In addition to the cafeteria that is being built they are repainting the school inside and out. Today I was on the paint crew working on the exterior of the building. Zach was on a clean up crew which he likened to Adopt a Highway. He picked up a lot of trash and cleared weeds.
They are trying something new for lunch time this year. They are going to let some of the school children eat lunch with us each day. The meals are being prepared by some of the parents at the school with food provided by Catalyst Foundation. This is the part of trip where I am most concerned about becoming ill from the food so please pray that we will make it through without incident. We are still taking the pepto bismol as a preventative.
Zach and I are both exhausted and hope to be asleep by 8:30pm.
